The ResourceBank-sponsored British Elite Sevens Tournament at Newport Rugby Club raised over £15,000 for 3 key charities.
The day started with a charity business lunch attended by over 450 people including Ex-England Rugby Captain Chris Robshaw who all helped raise £5000 each for Prostate Cancer UK, Katharine House Hospice and SYST.
A festival of 7’s Rugby followed featuring some of the top players in the Country. The tournament was won by The British Army team who were delighted to receive the trophy from Richard Pearson, CEO of ResourceBank and host of the event.
ResourceBank Chief Executive Richard Pearson said: “I have been involved in several rugby-related fund-raising events and the concept of bringing a high-quality sevens tournament to Shropshire excited me. Thanks to Jonny Stiles for organizing the rugby side and to Newport Rugby Club for hosting. A final thanks to all sponsors and attendees who helped to raise £15,000 – well over our target.”
