On Blue Monday, 20th January 2025, ResourceBank set out to tackle its most ambitious challenge yet – a virtual trek from Everest base camp to the summit, scaling an incredible 8,849 metres. This marked the fourth year of our Blue Monday Charity Challenge, proudly supporting United World Schools (UWS).
Over the years, we’ve rowed, cycled, and walked as part of this annual tradition, but 2025 saw us taking on a truly mountainous task. Teams got creative with their efforts, climbing office stairs, tackling steep trails, and even scaling The Wrekin, a cherished Shropshire landmark, to collectively reach the summit.
UWS is an organisation close to our hearts, dedicated to bringing education to children in remote and underserved areas. In 2022, ResourceBank funded the construction of a UWS school in Nepal, giving children in an isolated village access to education for the very first time. This year’s challenge was about building on that commitment and supporting UWS’s ongoing mission to reach more communities where education can unlock better opportunities. ResourceBank Chief Executive, Richard Pearson, shared his thoughts:
“The Blue Monday Charity Challenge is always a highlight in our calendar. It’s not just about the activity; it’s about coming together as a team for a shared purpose. Supporting UWS continues to be incredibly meaningful for us, especially after seeing the impact of the school we helped build in Nepal. A big thank you to everyone who took part or donated – you’ve made a real difference.”.”
